Hot Shot Services is proud to be an active member of several community organizations KOATS for KIDS
Hot Shot Services (HSS) has been a part of Channel 7 KOATS for KIDS since 2001, with most of the New Mexico Army National Guard being deployed at that time KOAT needed assistance with getting all the donated coats for the program picked up. HSS was excited to be asked to step in and support the program on behalf of KOAT and all the communities that received coats that year. HSS has continued to play an integral role in this program every year since. This truly is one of our staff’s favorite community efforts.
KOATS for KIDS is one of the best known public service campaigns in the state of New Mexico. Now in its 19th year, KOATS for Kids has collected thousands of coats for children in need. Hot Shot Services manages the logistics of getting all the promotional material out to the corporate sponsors, collections boxes and other collateral materials to approximately 60 locations state wide. Once the public starts donating coats Hot Shot Services returns to the same locations on a regular basis to pick up the donated coats and deliver them to Star Bright Cleaners to be cleaned and distributed to over 75 non for profits organizations and schools throughout all of New Mexico.
As HSS prepares to celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2009 and KOAT for KIDS will also be celebrating its 20th anniversary we are all very excited and working hard to make the 20th year of this effort the biggest and best for all those in need of a clean, warm coat.

Pay To Play
In the 2007 HSS started the Pay to Play program, the rules are very simple; employees that pay $2.00 are allowed to wear jeans on Fridays. Since the program started HSS has collected just over $3,575 in cash and other donations. HSS employees suggest a non-profit organization or a family in need; donations to the chosen agency or family are dispersed every two months.

In the spring of 2008 Ronald McDonald House contacted HSS about a puppy named Cruiser that needed to get home to his family in California. This was a result of a fatal car accident in New Mexico; the family had to return home to California for medical care and could not take Cruiser with them. In true HSS form the staff arranged to get Cruiser on a flight home and reunited the family with their beloved Cruiser! HSS paid for all the expenses to get Cruiser home safe and sound!
HSS continues this effort into 2009 to benefit a growing number of organizations and families in need during these very difficult times.
Run For the Zoo
Hot Shot Services has provided all the logistics management for Run for the Zoo at the New Mexico BioPark since 1996. Our team of volunteers is up very early to get all the necessary signage up throughout the runners course as well as all the tables for water and snack distribution, and of course chairs for anyone that needs a rest during the day. HSS also provides the Gear Storage for all the runners, allowing them to focus on the races and know that their valuables are safe and sound until they need them.
Run for the Zoo has contributed nearly $2 million to the Zoo; with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Rio Grande Zoo. The monies raised are used for educational programs and the development and capital improvement of the New Mexico BioPark Society. The Bio Park Society also services Rio Grande Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Aquarium and Tingley Beach, to further improve the community.
