Hot Shot Services, Inc. regrets that compensation must be adjusted to the rapidly changing prices of fuel. Hot Shot Services, Inc. fuel surcharge is established using the following fuel surcharge formula:
First, the fuel surcharge for the current week will be based upon the previous week's average fuel costs in their geographic region. Fuel surcharges will be based upon diesel costs (regardless of fuel type equipment actually used).
Second, the cost of fuel will be determined by using the U.S. Government's Department of Energy website using the U.S. Retail Diesel Prices based on region 5 (west coast).
Third, diesel prices for fuel surcharge considerations will be based on the geographic region of the Customer's domicile. Example: Customer is based in Boston, MA would be considered as New England region.
Determining Weekly Fuel Surcharge Amounts
Price per Gallon (USD) | % Surcharge |
$2.50 and under | 0% |
$2.51 - $2.70 | 5% |
$2.71 - $2.90 | 6% |
$2.91 - $3.00 | 7% |
$3.01 - $3.10 | 8% |
$3.11 - $3.20 | 9% |
$3.21 - $3.30 | 10% |
*For gasoline fuel prices at or above $3.31 the fuel surcharge will equal 10% plus an additional .025% for each additional $0.08 in fuel prices.
Fuel surcharges apply only against the customer's base rates plus mileage. The purpose of a fuel surcharge is to offset escalating fuel costs. Therefore fuel surcharges will not apply to any other charges other than Base Rate plus mileage (which considers minimum and mileage distances involved). Example: Fuel surcharge would not apply against After-hours surcharge costs or desk top delivery charges.
Fuel surcharge will be rounded to the closest penny for invoicing. Example - fuel surcharge is $38.128 cents. This would be rounded off to $38.13 cents.
